Tomorrow, Friday, June 5th, from 4 pm to 6 pm, we will be conducting an event in which families are able to drop off their student materials for corrective feedback and to do a drive though style farewell for both the teachers and students.
We ask that all families enter the high school parking lot from the Church St. entrance, and continue straight through the high school bus port, where you will be directed to the designated area to drop off your child’s materials with his/her teacher. Following the drop off, we ask that all families proceed behind the high school and exit the school grounds via Union St.
We also ask that all materials be placed in a plastic bag with each child’s name on the bag. Please note that the only materials we are collecting are the students Reading and Math workbooks, unless otherwise specified by their teacher.
We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow to wish you all a safe and happy summer break!

Dear Parents,
Tomorrow I will post my lessons for Friday and it will be the last post for my planned instruction. Please have all reading lessons completed up until Lesson 122 in the SRA Reading Series and Chapter 12 - Lesson 12.7 in the GoMath series. I know you are probably as saddened by this news as I am saddened that I won't be posting SRA lessons anymore. Please don't think my classroom is that redundant.
Next week we will be have fun with "Shark Week!" The regular education teachers are doing something different, but I have come to realize over the school year that your children REALLY like sharks. So I thought what a great way to end this crazy year. Feel free to participate in your homeroom teacher's activities, though they won't be about sharks. Sharks are cool. Stay tuned for next week...
Hope to see you on Friday,
Mrs. Litch

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we reach the end of the 2019-2020 school year, we would first like to take the opportunity to thank all of you for your continued support in your child’s education during this unprecedented time. It has been a difficult journey trying to ensure we were providing the most appropriate lessons and activities, which best suited your child’s educational needs. While nothing can replace face-to-face instruction in a school setting, you, as their parents/guardians, did an amazing job partnering with us during our first remote learning adventure together.
This Friday, June 5th, from 4 pm to 6 pm, we will be conducting a “student work drop-off/student farewell” event. Teachers, while following recommended CDC guidelines, will be stationed in designated areas at the high school bus port, where families will be dropping off their child’s Math and Reading workbooks, also giving the teachers and students an opportunity to say goodbye for the summer.
The last official day of school is June 12th. We are collecting the above materials on June 5th in order to give the teachers an opportunity to review all assignments and provide the families with the appropriate feedback. For the final week of school, the faculty at Kennedy will be providing educational activities, in the form of a Summer Celebration Enrichment Week.
Once all materials have been collected and reviewed, we will be conducting another event for students to pick-up report cards, certificates, reviewed materials, etc. This date will be given at a later time.
Again, we would like to thank you all for your continued support and cooperation. We are looking forward to seeing your children on Friday, as this is the final opportunity for teachers to formally say goodbye for the summer break. We encourage you to bring your child, however, everyone is required to remain in their vehicles and follow the appropriate CDC guidelines.
Sincerely,
Valerie Bartle

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. I wanted to share a resource for teens and young adults with you, ok2talk. The website is: https://ok2talk.org

It's time we talked about mental health. Share what's on your mind.

ABOUT OK2TALK
Living with mental illness may sometimes leave you feeling hopeless and alone. Often, you may not know what’s wrong or you may even feel like you’ve done something wrong. Even when you do understand what’s happening, you may find it hard to talk about what you’re going through with friends and family. The stigma associated with having a mental illness often makes it hard to talk openly about your feelings and experiences. We want you to know that help is available.
OK2TALK is a community where teens and young adults struggling with mental health conditions can find a safe place to talk about what they’re experiencing by sharing their personal stories of recovery, tragedy, struggle or hope. Anyone can add their voice by sharing stories, poems, inspirational quotes, photos, videos, song lyrics and messages of support in a safe, moderated space. We hope this is the first step towards helping you get the support you need to feel better.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Beginning Monday, April 27th, Teachers are conducting “Planned Instruction”. All students are working out of provided packets and workbooks that were distributed to the students.
Students also have online components, Think Central and ConnectED, which are aligned to their reading and math series, and may be utilized. Students do not need to complete assignments via these platforms, however they are the resource components to access the lessons/stories.
MobyMax will also be utilized as a supplemental component that is not required by the students, but is a useful tool to enhance their skills.
Teachers will also be posting assignments to their individual websites and the “Remote Learning” tab of the Kennedy Early Childhood Center webpage. All teachers are required to utilize their email and either the Remind App or Class Dojo as a means of communication to the students and their families.
Please be advised that student participation and attendance will be monitored and tracked. This can be done using various methods and platforms (e-mail, ClassDojo, Remind)
Daily
-You can send pictures of the students work to the teacher
-You can simply let the teacher know that your child has completed the daily assignments
2) Weekly
-At the end of the week let your child’s teacher know that the work has been completed
We encourage students and parents to actively communicate with their child’s teacher for assistance, engagement, and to ensure the well-being of all.
A future date and details will be provided for all families to participate in an end of the year drop-off, in which the school will be collecting and reviewing all workbooks and packets.
On behalf of myself and my staff at the Kennedy Early Childhood Center, we sincerely miss all of our students and wish that everyone remain safe and healthy through this unprecedented event.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Bartle

April 27th, 2020:
Dear Parents,
Our reading lessons will come from the SRA Reading Series that I use in my classroom. I understand that your child’s regular education teachers also included the Wonders Reading Series that the district uses in those classrooms. I would like for you to put those materials on the side, and focus primarily on the SRA reading. You can use the Wonders Reading for enrichment as needed, however you may find it difficult for your child. The regular education teachers sent those materials home as required through inclusion in their classrooms. I assure you that there will be no consequences against your child for not finishing the Wonders reading and focusing on the SRA Reading.
I hope this alleviates some of the worries and concerns that you may be feeling.
Daily Math assignments from the GOMath! Series will be posted on the Grade K and Grade 1 webpages or individual teacher's dojos.
Stay safe and healthy,
Mrs. Litch

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we venture through this time of uncertainty, we as special educators would like to provide our parents and guardians support through enrichment activities. We are including on the special education web page websites that will be a resource for parents to assist in maintaining foundational skills such as; handwriting, letter recognition, letter sounds, blending sounds, number recognition, number writing, counting, addition and subtraction.
Please continue to work on the packets that were sent home with your child on the last school day on March 13th and the second drive through packet distribution on April 14th. All students should have received a packet from their regular education teacher as well as myself. The work included in the packet is a review of material covered in class and your child should be able to complete the work with little guidance. If you have any questions regarding material in the packet or any other foundational skills, please contact me at the following email address: [email protected] or on my classroom dojo.
In addition, attached on the GNA Website are offers for free internet service, from providers such as Comcast, Atlantic Broadband, and Service Electric during the pandemic.
Stay healthy and safe,
